The Food Security Program is an entitlement program, in which individuals and households can receive assistance. The benefits are used to purchase food at participating stores. It may not be used to purchase tobacco, pet food, paper products, soap products, or alcoholic beverages.

The Department of Social Services continuously seeks opportunities to enhance service delivery to the citizens of Cumberland County. One opportunity that assists families with reducing transportation costs is our providing of services in the neighborhoods and communities of Cumberland County. If you are currently receiving Food and Nutrition Services and have received notification that it is time for a face-to-face interview and you live in one of the following areas: Hope Mills, Stedman or Campbell Terrace, you can visit the appropriate location identified below to be recertified for Food and Nutrition Services. It is not necessary to make a trip to the main DSS office. Just bring picture identification and social security card for adults included in the food stamp assistance, rent and utility receipts, verification of income and any information concerning changes to your case.
